Aaron and Claire's wonderful outdoor wedding at Altskeith Country House,Loch Ard, Loch Lomond
Aaron and Claire's wedding was going to be my first visit to Altskeith Country house on Loch Lomond. When I meet the couple they talked of getting shots of them out on the boat in Loch Ard which sounded great, I couldn't wait!
The drive to the venue was stunning. There was lots of mist on the top of the Loch that morning, it looked incredible. When I arrived all the girls were getting hair and make up done and the boys had popped out for breakfast. I just loved the setting of this place. It was stunning.
When the boys returned from breakfast I got some shots of them getting into their kilts. It can be amusing to watch the guys try this normally but when all the men were from New Zealand it was even more interesting, but they got there in the end.
I went back and forth from the girls rooms and the boys all morning until everyone was ready and it was time for the ceremony. It was such a sunny day the couple decided to have the ceremony outside. What a beautiful ceremony it was with such a stunning backdrop.
After the ceremony we got a few family shots done and then it was the boat time! I was a little apprehensive about me going in the "smallest boat in the world" in order to get the shots of Aaron and Claire in their bigger boat. I didn't care about me getting wet or falling in, it just cared about my cameras! Luckily the cameras and me stayed dry. It was all worth it as I got some fantastic shots of them on the Loch. A big thank you to the venue for arranging this for us, they were great.
I then focused on the guests at the drinks reception. Aaron and Claire had obviously spent a lot of time putting little touch's around the house which looked fantastic. I loved the polaroid images of all the gust on the stairs and the ones strung up over the window showing pictures of when Aaron proposed to Claire.
Their table decorations where great too. Potted plants of the tables with little bottles of whiskey and packets of tablet. Claire's brother had also made a sign which was outside showing directions and miles to Glasgow, Auckland etc. Such a lovely personal touch.
Claire then decided to throw her bouquet which is something that doesn't happen too often now. I loved it as it is always great for pictures.
All the guests then moved into the room for dinner and speeches. What a fantastic space for a meal. Floor to ceiling window's showed off the beautiful view. The speeches were great with Claire doing a short one too.
It was then party time. Claire and Aaron had their first dance followed by Claire and her Dad. The atmosphere of the day carried on into the night. It just felt like one big fantastic , chilled out family and friends get together.
I think if there is one thing Claire and Aaron should take from their wedding day is how much they are loved by their family and friends. Half of their gusts they had flown from the other side of the world to be with them on their special day, which is really something. Aaron's sister even came with a baby and a toddler.
It was a joy and a privilege to have been their photographer. It is really such a beautiful part of the world that they choose for their wedding and I was lucky enough to be able to capture it for them. G x
