Rachel and David's wedding photographs at Trump Turnberry

20th July 2016

This was going to be only the second wedding at the newly opened Trump Turnberry and Rachel and David were lucky enough for it to be their wedding. It had been many years since I had visited the venue in Ayrshire but it really did look amazing. We were  lucky enough for it to be one of those clear sunny days with amazing views over to Ailsa Craig (or when I was young it was the dumpling surrounded by custard!). I got to the venue early and Rachel and her bridesmaids were getting ready in the most amazing room overlooking the sea. This wasn't the bridal room apparently but it couldn't have been better. Make up was by I do make up by Geo Kane. What a beautiful job she did. Rachel's dress was stunning. A very glamorous style with detail on the back to die for. I proceeded downstairs to see David and his brother for some shots. Everyone was starting to arrive and the ceremony was going to be held in a room at the front of the hotel overlooking the sea. I then got shots of Rachel and her Dad and bridesmaids walking down the beautiful staircase to the ceremony room. The ceremony was performed a fantastic celebrant who really got everyone laughing. It was a lovely ceremony (as all humanist ones are). Rachel's flower girl was the star of the show though. Lying on the floor next to Rachel as they did their vows. It was hilarious and one of my favourite pictures of the day. We then all went outside for drinks and a group shot of all the guests. The couple and I were then taken to the lighthouse for some shots. This was perfect. The contrast of the blue sky with the white buildings was stunning. It looked like we were somewhere in Greece not the west of Scotland. I love using colour to full effect and the saturation in the pictures was not digitally enhanced but totally natural. We then went back to the drinks reception for some candid shots of the guests then onto the speeches. After dinner I got some softer light shots of Rachel and David with Ailsa Craig in the background. A few friends shots and then back to the room for the dancing. It was such a fantastic day to be a part of. The weather was on our side and I got some truly stunning shots on the day. Its what you become a photographer for! G x
