The wedding photography of Martin and Lara at The University of Glasgow
I love it when I get bookings for weddings from a family or friend recommendation. When Martin and Lara came to see me to discuss their day it was because I had photographed Martin's sisters wedding a few years back. It is such a joy to be able to see all the family again on the day.
That day started at Lara's parents house. The gates were all decorated in wedding hearts so it was easy to find. Such a lovely chilled out atmosphere in the morning. Lara's dress was stunning and I knew it would be perfect for Glasgow University. I loved her little fur jacket which gave it such a glamorous touch and after all it was December so it was essential as well as stylish!
I then got to the University where I got some shots of Martin and his rather large entourage of best men and ushers. All the guests started arriving as well as the bridesmaids. Lara then arrived with her Dad. Her dress looked amazing on the stairs of the University. A large gust of wind blew her veil coming up the stairs but luckily it didn't blow off. The chapel of the university is such a beautiful place and the ceremony was lovely. We then headed outside for a large group shot of all the guests. We then headed round to the cloisters for some more shots and some pictures with the family.
Because of the time of year there was some amazing light coming through the archways of the buildings. You can get some incredibly dramatic light at this time of year. I took shots of that straight away as you never know how long the light will last. These were some of my favourite shots of the day.
Once we were finished at the University we headed down to the fantastic Lochgreen House hotel for the reception. I got some nice candid shots of the guests. I love having time for this as it gives a true story of how the day went. All the guests headed through for the speeches and the meal. All the speeches were great including Martin's two best men. Martin's brother was hilarious.
It was then time for the dancing part of the evening. I can truly say I have never see such a full dance floor. It was so full I had to stand on a chair at the side so I wouldn't get hit by a stray arm in the air. I wasn't the only person on a chair as a few guests were dancing on chairs too. If this was the start of the night the end of the night must have been electric!
I would like to thank Martin and Lara for allowing me to be a part of their day. It was great to see Martin's family again and to meet Lara's.
