Q. What should I wear?
A. What ever you feel most comfortable in. If you are a gardener then get your wellies on! Some clients may feel more at ease in a suit if this represents what they do. It is always preferable to have a change of outfit or jacket so that you have a variety of images.
Q. Do I need brand photography?
A. YES! Clients need to know who you are. They need to see who is the face behind your great business. They also need to see what you are selling. There is a massive difference between products being professionally photographed and what you can achieve with your phone.
Q. Will I need to provide props?
A. This is something I will discuss with you. If you are a florist then pictures of you with your flowers are a must. Other businesses don’t have products but sell services. I will come up with ideas that best represent what your services are in a visual context.
Q. How long will the pictures take?
A. This depends on what you are looking for. If it is simple headshots for one person then about 20 minutes. If you are requiring many aspects of your business photographed then this can take half a day or perhaps a full day.
Q. Can you take pictures at my place of work?
The majority of photography will take place at your premisis. It can be a great idea to take pictures outside depending on what your business is about. This is something I will discuss with you before the shoot and come up with possible location ideas.
I have been a professional photographer since 1995, after studying at the Glasgow College of Building and Printing (now City of Glasgow College). I began working at a press agency before moving on to PR agency in Glasgow. This experience led me to start my own business – Gail Photography. I believe that photography is capturing moments in time that will last a lifetime.
